About John Chavez
The president/principal, John Chavez has serviced the commercial and residential construction and real estate industries for over 30 years through different venues since 1985, when he started in San Francisco, CA as an apprentice to Manuel Palos, the renown Mexican born sculptor, where through the hands-on work on renovation projects like the Crocker bank on Market st. or the Legion of Honor sculpture restoration, or the Pacific Bell building renovation amongst many other projects, John had the opportunity to learn first hand not only the intricacies of older construction, but also the merger with new technologies as part of renovations in multiple projects.
Over the years John specialized as a carpenter, mold maker and designer for architectural accessories and was an integral part of the design and manufacturing of other projects like the 30 foot columns used in the renovation of the Cesar’s Palace in the late 80’s as well as other large projects throughout the country.
John traveled all over the United States providing consulting and installation services of architectural components, water features, columns, etc. for projects like shopping malls, hotels, museums and large residential estates. Through this work, he later became a contractor and provided remodeling services for commercial and residential construction where his experience expanded from hands-on designing and drafting, to pouring concrete, framing, finish carpentry, tile, masonry, painting, and other work on residential and commercial construction.
In 2000, John became a certified “residential” inspector of structures in Nevada and created the Nevada Home Inspection Group, Inc. which provided residential and commercial inspection services in the height of the real estate market. John later became a certified “general” inspector of structures and expanded the business to provide Home Owner Associations with Reserve Studies. After the economy took a down turn in late 2000’s, John shifted gears and transformed the inspection company into a consulting firm to accommodate the changes the market and construction industry went through, with the re-branding of the company to BlueSky Home Services and the expansion of the services the company provided.
As the business environment has changed, John has re-focused the company once more and created Builder QC as a service brand provider of inspections, construction consulting, defect assessment, and project management services, to aid home owners and contractors in an ever changing construction environment.
John has been a Certified “General” Inspector of Structures in the state of Nevada, and continues to hold a General Contractor’s Licence in the state of California and is a member of the ICC (International Code Council) and InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors).
In today’s construction environments, it is our goal to provide a lending hand to home owner’s, real estate agents and contractors that need a knowledgeable third party opinion when it comes to construction quality and possible issues and defects.
Our clients have discovered over the years that our services, especially consulting and project management services, provide contractors and home owners with a peace of mind that is not possible when home owners and contractors deal with each other directly, unless the home owners are knowledgeable about construction themselves.
